Children’s Ministry Guidelines

We have a number of measures in place to help coordinate our ministry with safeguards for the children we minister to. Please read the following in order to be more comfortable upon your arrival.

First Time Visitors

Our Guest Service’s Desk is staffed by friendly, caring people who want your first visit to be a great one for your whole family! They will assist you in getting your child registered and placed into the right classroom or worship environment and ensure that any questions you may have are answered.

Children’s Nurseries (6 Weeks – 5k)

Nursery B, 1, 2, 3 & Bible Explorers

What to Bring
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:
1. Two or three disposable diapers. No cloth diapers, please.
2. Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
3. A complete change of clothes in case your child would require that.
4. A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)

Please label all personal items with your child’s first and last name before arriving at your child’s class. This helps us keep track of your child’s items.

Your Child’s Health

We operate a well-baby program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us to keep our Nursery Program a healthy place for all.

Nursery Check-In

At the time of check-in, a leader will greet you and enter your child’s and your information into our check-in system. A leader will then apply an adhesive nametag to your child’s back with his or her name on it. You will be given a Parent Badge, which you will need to present at the time of pick up. A child will not be released without presentation of the parent’s/guardian’s corresponding Parent Badge.

When You Arrive At Your Child’s Room

A leader will meet you to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies and special needs.

Snacks

Snacks are provided for the children once they graduate to Nursery 1. The food items consist of apple juice/water and Gold Fish or Vanilla Wafers for our new walkers and toddlers. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Curriculum

We believe even our littlest ones can learn! Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, play and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind. All of our teachings relate to what we believe at Family Worship Center.

Saying Good-bye

After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed. If your child cries for an extended period of time (10 minutes), we will display your family number on the screens in the main sanctuary.

Checking On Your Child

Feel free to check on your little one at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.

Pick-up Procedures

For the protection of your child, the Parent Badge received at check-in will need to be presented in order to receive your child. Please make sure that all your child’s personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time. Usable items not claimed after one month will be donated to a charitable organization.
